New Beginnings and New Projects!
I’ve committed to a huge project for 2022 and I want to share a bit about what it is and why I’m doing it now.
For a while now I’ve wanted to write a book and course combination. I’ve wanted to pair one of my books with a course to provide a lot more depth to the course than I normally give in the workbooks I write. I’ve always seen that as probably the most beneficial way I can offer my work.
I didn’t want to turn my workbooks into actual books and I didn’t want to turn my books into workbooks. I want to separate them so that you can just read if you want to or if you want to dive deeper that’s also an option. Yes, I know there are books out there that double as workbooks. I own a couple of books that are based on tarot and astrology, that are books and workbooks combined, but that wasn’t the model I was going for. To be honest I find those books lacking in information because so much of the book is taken up with the workbook activities. It doesn’t make a great balance in my opinion.
So, that’s when the idea of creating them as separate entities came up. But then the question was what topic to do that with? If I was going to be putting that much effort into something, I wanted it to be a big deal. I didn’t want it to be a 50-page book with a 10-page workbook. I wanted it to be a 200-page book with a 50-page workbook kind of thing. I wanted it to have some meat to it and I wanted it to be reasonably comprehensive. I didn’t want to just focus on one aspect of one thing. It would amount to being more of the same thing that I always do and I didn’t want that either.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve been working out the fear around not offering what I like to call a la carte products and services so that I can create consistent income. If all my stuff is on Amazon, and I don’t see the money for those sales until 2-months later, where is the money coming from? What I had to train myself to do, the process that I’ve been in, is to learn to trust that if I follow my intuition and do what I want to do the way I want to do it, that things will work out. Basically, I had to get to a place where I was okay with jumping off the cliff without a parachute. Well, let’s just say I got there. Go me! 🙂
So the project is a series of books and courses that will essentially cover everything that you see me talk about on a regular basis. I brainstormed with sticky notes (see the picture with this blog), all the topics that I talk about. I scrolled through my old blogs to help with the brainstorming process, and I came up with a whole bunch of topics. I learned through doing that, that I have a lot to talk about and maybe I talk too much! LOL
Anyway, I took all those individual topics and began grouping them together into major headings and I ended up with 7 headings. Those 7 headings will now become 7 books and 7 courses that I will spend this year writing and creating. Will I get all 7 done? Maybe not. But the goal isn’t necessarily to have it all done in one year. The goal is to create a definitive guide to healing, one that is based on my journey and the things that I’ve learned along the way. I want you to have a process that you can work through by starting from where you are. I want to be able to give you a path that isn’t just a hodgepodge of random topics. So, that’s what I’ve set out to create.
I will release them one at a time as I complete them. The first one that I’m writing is based on identity. The question I’m asking in this book is who am I? I’m using the book to break down the different pieces that affect who we are. I’m looking for the truth of who we are when we get out of all the stuff we get taught and all the crappy messages we pick up. The course will be a deep dive for you to go through and figure out who you are. It will follow the book and likely reference the book all along the way. I’m excited to see how all this comes together!
I did one other thing yesterday too, I took down The Empowered Self Academy. I was getting very annoyed with that hodgepodge style of a huge variety of courses with no path or trajectory, so I took it down. I thought about creating different paths and adding content so that it would have some more obvious structure to it, but that was a lot of work by itself. If I’m going to do that, I might as well just do this instead and create what I’ve wanted to create for a while. So here we are.
There is no more academy. I will at some point in the future put out the first course on identity. Whether I put it into an academy or publish it on Amazon remains to be seen. Writing books doesn’t have to be a long process. Most authors write their books fairly quickly. Where the process gets lengthy is when you add in time for others to edit it, create covers, market the book, and do all the other stuff. That’s why people like Deepak Chopra can really only write one book a year. It’s not because he doesn’t have the content or the ability to write more. The time is consumed in everything that happens after he writes it. When you’re a low-budget operation, heck who am I kidding it’s a no-budget operation, I’m not held up by the other stuff. I can write them as fast as I want to and get them out pretty quickly. I proofread my own stuff and make my own covers. That’s as good as it gets right now.
So, there you are. I leaped off the cliff. There is no more academy. I don’t offer appointments very much anymore. I don’t really have anything out there that would generate income “in a pinch’. All of my a la carte-style products and services are gone. I’m focused on one major series of books and courses and that’s it. I’ll continue my blog, the podcast, and the monthly healing journals which are all free. That will be it for the offerings for now. If I get an idea for something else, I might do that too. But that’s where I am and I’m very happy with it!
I’m super excited about my new projects and I’m hoping you’ll hang around to see what other crazy things I come up with. Until next time…
Love to all.
